Some countries are classified as restricted, and Expend Visa cards cannot normally be used there. If you need to use your Expend Visa cards in one or more restricted countries, you can temporarily allow this for cards in your organisation.
How to enable restricted countries
Please note: This feature is only available to administrators.
In the Expend web app, open the menu on the left and click Expend Cards.
Click Cards Security Settings at the top right of the page.
Under Enable restricted countries, choose the country or countries you need from the dropdown list.
Click Save.
Changes are applied immediately to all cards in your organisation.
ℹ️ Restricted countries can only be selected from the list provided. Countries that aren't in the list (for example sanctioned countries) cannot be enabled.
Keeping your organisation safe
Enabling a restricted country increases your organisation's risk of fraud and scams, as these countries have a high incidence of fraudulent transactions.
To protect your organisation and your cardholders, please follow these guidelines:
Only enable the countries you actually need, and only for as long as you need them.
Remove countries as soon as you no longer need them, by removing them in the same dropdown and clicking Save.
Prefer virtual cards for online transactions to restricted countries. Create a virtual card with a restricted budget, use it for the online transaction, and close it afterward. This limits the exposure if the card details are compromised.
If you notice any suspicious transactions, lock the affected card immediately and contact Expend support.
