Expend Card FAQs

Frequently asked questions about the Expend card

Updated over a week ago

Do you support Faster Payments?

Yes. If you transfer funds to your Expend account with Faster Payments, it should reflect within a couple of hours.

Do you run a credit check?

We don't run a credit check. We only do a check to confirm your identity from the details you provide when you apply to order Expend cards. All companies issuing payment cards are required by law to do this as a fraud-reduction measure. It's a so-called “soft” ID search and won't affect your credit rating. These “soft” searches leave a generic identity footprint so that the individual can see if a check has been performed. Rest assured that it’s an ID check and will not affect your credit rating.

Can the card be used with Apple Pay?

Unfortunately not at this time. We do have plans to add that to the product in the near future – it is definitely on our roadmap.

What does the Expend card cost?

Please have a look at Fees, limits and terms for full details.

Where can I use my Expend card?

You should be able to use your Expend card anywhere that you can pay with a debit or credit card, at any point of purchase where you see the Mastercard logo.

Where can't I use my Expend card?

Please let us know if you have a problem using your card somewhere. Specify where, and whether you tried contactless or chip & PIN.

Is my money safe?

Can I get an Expend card if I live outside the UK?

For now, you can get an Expend card only if you are a UK resident. To sign up, we need a registered UK address, which will be verified as part of the sign-up process.
